Oklahoma is a multi-sport athletic department, and football is not the only side worth following. The softball programme has been among the most dominant in American college sport this century.

Beyond football and softball, Oklahoma competes across the full Southeastern Conference calendar. Men's and women's basketball and baseball are the programmes that draw the most attention outside the autumn.

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State meet in Bedlam, the state's defining rivalry. Oklahoma's move to the SEC in 2024 took the series out of the annual conference schedule for the first time in decades.

Smaller programmes across the state — Central Oklahoma, Northeastern State, East Central, Southeastern and Southwestern Oklahoma State, Langston and Oklahoma Panhandle State — play at Division II and NAIA level.
